A world in miniature
Gone are the days where "bigger is better" in the aquarium hobby. More and more, we are seeing everyday aquarium keepers successfully keeping very small aquariums for long periods of time. Known by names such as nano or pico aquariums the reef community has been buzzing about these small aquariums for quite some time now. What I'm excited about now, is that it's not just miniature desktop reef tanks that have hobbiests in a stir. The fever has been caught by fresh water planted tank enthusiasts as well has people who enjoy terrariums. When this craze first took off I remember using a glass starbucks coffee bottle and placing in it some sand, a kenya tree coral, a bit of rock and algae, and a hermit crab. I placed my bonsai'ed bottle of life in a medium lit window for over a week and enjoyed this tiny little stable ecosystem. After a week I put everything back into a larger tank even though it appeared to be a very healthy system. Since we're not offering items for sale yet.
